Halloween is just around the corner, which means it’s time to get those houses nice and haunted! Here are 5 decorating ideas that are the perfect amount of cute and spooky!

Not Itsy-Bitsy
For this creepy takeover, blogger Amanda Campbell of The Ginger Home bought oversize arachnids from Amazon and Party City and secured them to the porch of her house in Alberta, Canada, with slim finishing nails. The project was simple enough, other than one minor challenge, she reports: “During setup, our beagle, Ollie, kept wrestling with the spiders!”

Haunted Playhouse
Bewitching your little girls’ hangout is a good idea when it’s this cute. “I put in a pink flood light plus string lights on the ceiling,” says Chesterfield, New Jersey, blogger Ceres Mercurio of The Pink Dream. Her daughters helped paint the mini pumpkins.

Mummy Chic
Designer Natassja Conway wrapped the front door of her home in Powell, Ohio, with stretchy gauze fabric from JoAnn and stuck on googly eyes using Command strips. “The 9-foot-tall cornstalks were a challenge to stuff into our car at the nursery,” she says, “but easy to lean in the corners!”

Skeleton Hangout
Meet Bury White and his dog, Bones, so named by the three sons of Austin, Texas, blogger Susan McInnis of Table for 5 Please. She had a trick up her sleeve: “I told my kids they’d be watching for good behavior!”

Invisible Witches
When your favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz, slipping hints of it into a Halloween display is easy. Pell City, Alabama, blogger Joanna Keel of Hostess Jo got the hats to “float” with clear hooks and fishing line, and plunked witch’s legs (from Old Time Pottery) in the planter. More proof that there’s no place like home: “A neighbor’s kid said he wanted his porch to look like ours,” she says.
