‘Tis the season for giving, so what’s the best way to give back? We’ve rounded up a few ideas that will help you give back to your community not just during the holiday season, but year round as well!
Donate to a food drive
Food banks help millions of people throughout the year, but especially during the holiday season. Donating to a food drive, or even organizing and hosting one, can be a great way to help keep their shelves stocked and raise awareness about hunger in your community.
Give a gift that gives back
We can’t ignore that this is the season for giving, and often that results in an endless search of gifts for loved ones. This year, consider donating to a charity in honor of your friends and family. You will be spreading the love twice as far by giving to those who are in need and giving your loved one a meaningful gift.
Volunteer
Grow your heart three sizes this year by giving just a few hours of your time to your favorite charity or non-profit. It won’t cost you anything, but the feeling of helping your neighbors in need during the holiday season is priceless.
Make a difference online
There are lots of ways you can help others from the comfort of your own home. Donate to a GoFundMe, start an online fundraiser for a charity, challenge your friends to a donation competition to see who can raise the most. Your actions may inspire friends and family to join in.
Donate to our One Warm Coat drive
In case you hadn’t heard, we are once again collecting coats for One Warm Coat. Coats are distributed in the communities where they are collected, to any person in need, without charge or discrimination. You can find out more information on the One Warm Coat initiative by visiting their website here.
Giving back during the holidays is one of the best ways to show gratitude and pay it forward. Try incorporating some of these ideas into your busy holiday schedule, and little by little, you’ll make your community a little merrier.
